The tolling of St. Paul's church bell last Friday, Jan. 4th brought the sad news that mother Walz had passed away very suddenly from heart failure. Mrs. Friederika Walz, formerly known as Mrs. Andreas Walz, was born August 15, 1858 in Heilbronn Crimea, Russia. In the year 1875 she entered the holy bonds of matrimony with Andreas who quit this vade of tears 1894 leaving a widow, three sons, and two daughters. The Walz parents were devout Christians and brought up their children in a thorough knowledge of Christ and His word and by proper correction and discipline lead them to walk the paths of righteousness and after the fathers death this sacred duty was done by the mother in a God pleasing manner. Above all mother Walz lived her religion. Her conversation was blameless in the sight of man and she seldom failed to be numbered with the worshipers at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with which she was affiliated. At the home she held the family alter to be a divine institution. Thus the deceased filled out the short span of life in brilliant deeds although remote from the lime light of the world. Her strength seemed to be waning of late however, it was a shock to those near and dear to her to receive the sorrowful message. All the children, many of the relatives and a host of friends were present at the funeral service which as held last Tuesday at the Lutheran church of this city. Rev. G. H. Steffen, pastor in charge; officiating. Her sojourn on earth was 65 years, 4 months 19 days and her sudden departure from the ranks of the quick is mourned by her sons Jacob and Emil living south west of Freeman, and Reinhold a Christian day-school teacher, at Courtland, Minn; her daughters Mrs. Wm Pfeiffer, residing near Freeman and Mrs. Emil Schafer, of Laurel, Montana ; three brothers Christian of Freeman, Daniel of Zap, N.D. and Henry of Zeeland, N.D.; two sisters - Mrs. Adam Herman of Zap N.D. and Mrs. Henry Hafner of Glenham, . D.; and 21 grandchildren of who Edna made her home with her grandmother.. Our sympathy to the bereaved.
