Albert Besse

Our community [Houghton] was shocked by the sudden death of Albert Besse last Saturday night. He complained of slight indisposition some days previous but was not confined to bed until Sunday the 30th. Dr. Weeks of Columbia was summoned and after examination pronounced it a case of appendicitis and with the assistance of Dr. Diefendorf of Aberdeen an operation was performed, but he passed away on the day following the operation.

Albert was the eldest son of Mr. And Mrs. Frank Besse and was only 19 years old. His relatives have the deep sympathy of the whole community, among whom he was a general favorite, as was shown by the large attendance at his funeral. Services were conducted at the house by the Rev. Mr. Webb of Columbia and the internment was in the Columbia cemetery on Tuesday.
