Aberdeen Weekly News Thursday, Dec 20, 1900 

The death of Leander T. Cole of Riverside township is reported. Mr. Cole was one of the early settlers of Riverside, taking land there in 1882. His death took place on the day he was 75 years of age. His aged wife survives him with two sons, Howard W. Cole and Elmer Cole, and one daughter, Mrs. John E. Weaver, all of Claremont. The deceased was a successful farmer and one of the most respected citizens of Riverside.

After a long sickness, L. T. Cole of this place [Putney] died at his home on the downline. The funeral on Wednesday last was conducted by the G. A. R., of which he was an honored member. He was 75 years old the day he died, December 17th. 

This place loses one of its oldest and most honored citizens.
