SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. DAWES

Cerebral Hemorrhage causes Death of Well Known Pioneer Resident

Last evening about 7:30 o’clock, Mrs. C. F. Dawes suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at her home at 210 First avenue southeast and died in a very few minutes. She was feeling as well as she had at any time just before the attack and had been reading the paper. Members of the family in an adjoining room heard her groan and found her helpless, death taking place almost immediately.

Mrs. Dawes, or “Grandma” Dawes as she was known to her many friends, was 72 years of age on March 8 last, and was born in Washington, N. Y. She was married to Mr. Dawes fifty years ago, they celebrating their golden anniversary of the wedding Sept. 14, 1908, in this city. In 1883 Mrs. Dawes joined her husband in Brown county, he having come here in 1880 and they made their home on their homestead about six miles south of the city. Here they lived until December, 1892, when they moved to Aberdeen and have since resided in this city.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Dawes leaves six children, all of whom are grown to manhood or womanhood. They are: Mrs. W. F. Kearus, Mrs. J. I Gordon and Miss Carrie Dawes of this city; Mrs. Anson Green of Stanley, Wis., George Dawes of Wells, Mich., and W. E. Dawes of Colorado Springs, Colo.

The funeral will be held from the family residence at 2:30 o’clock Friday afternoon, interment taking place at Riverside.
