JAMES R. DAYTON
Death Ended His Sufferings on Monday Evening - The Funeral.
The not unexpected death of James R. Dayton occurred at his residence of Bright’s disease Monday evening at 6:30 o’clock, June 11th. Deceased was in a comatose state more or less for a period of four or five days prior to his death, and seldom recognized his callers or the relatives about him. His health, as people generally know, had been steadily failing, despite the best medical treatment obtainable, for a year or more.
Brief funeral services were held at the residence at 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Dr. Mallory officiating in the absence from the city of Rev. Dr. Keeling, rector of St. Mark’s. The interment occurred at the city cemetery southwest.
James R. Dayton was born in Connecticut in 1827 and was therefore in the 67th year of his age. He resided in Minneapolis for a number of years, coming to live this part of the west in 1881 where he speculated in real estate and acquired large property interests. Of late years, however, he met with a number of reverses.
Relatives who survive him are a wife and two sons, H. A. of Chicago and J. M. of Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Dayton were with him in his last hours.
