EDWIN S. DIXON

Full of years and hour and enjoying the esteem of a large circle of friends and neighbors, Edwin S. Dixon responded to the last call of nature at his home in Riverside at one o’clock this morning in his 87th year.

Funeral services will occur tomorrow at his late home at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. J. S. Butt. Edwin S. Dixon was born Nov. 1, 1822 in the town of Mentz, Cayuga County, N. Y. where he lived until 1883, when he moved to Dakota Territory, making his home in Riverside until his death.

On Nov. 24, 1852, he was joined in marriage with Harriet H. Wilson, who died in September 1853. To this union one daughter was born, dying in 1853. He was again married in 1855 to Samantha J. Sturge, of Hannibal, Oswego County, N. Y., who survives him. To them were born four sons, one daughter, one son dying in 1878. Mr. and Mrs. Dixon celebrated their golden wedding four years ago. Mrs. Dixon has also been feeble health for some time. Mr. Dixon was a consistent member of the Presbyterian Church, having been a member of the Groton organization since its beginning, and a member of the session during all that time. A true husband and father an upright patriotic citizen has gone to his reward. Peace to his ashes!
