OLD PIONEER GONE

Francis Elliott of Columbia Dies at the Advanced Age of 73

Francis Elliott, one of the earliest settlers of the county, died at a late hour Tuesday evening, aged 73 years, and was buried at Columbia on Friday of last week. He settled on land north of Columbia twenty years ago and held the original homestead at the time of death.

He leaves several sons, one of whom is Ezra Elliott, editor of the Verdon Times and postmaster at that place. He was highly respected by all who knew him and lived a good and useful life.
