CLAREMONT
Albert Benjamin Foutz Claremont, S. D., March 20.—Died at his home five miles southwest of town, Wednesday evening, March 13th, at 6:30 o’clock, of Bright’s disease of the kidneys, Albert Benjamin Foutz, aged 22 years, 4 months and 15 days. During the past week death has been very busy in our neighborhood. That he loves a shining mark was never truer than in the departure of our fellow citizen and brother, Albert B. Foutz. Men seldom think of death until the shadow falls across their own pathway, hiding from their eyes the faces of the loved ones whose living smile was the sunlight of their existence.
Bert being an only child, the blow seems doubly hard to bear. He was always a moral young man, but during the last few weeks of life he announced to the world that he had accepted the Christian religion. On March 12, 1899, he was married to Miss Ethel Harry of Aberdeen. His parents and young widow and infant daughter have the sincere sympathy of the entire community.
The funeral service was held Friday at the Huffton church, the Maccabees taking charge. The services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Putnam, assisted by Rev. Mr. Sanderson of Groton. Appropriate music was furnished by the Claremont choir. According to the request of the deceased, the remains were laid to rest in the Groton cemetery. The funeral was the largest of any held here in years.
Again the heavenly gates have swung,
Their golden portals wide;
Again a loved one has passed through,
Safe to the other side.
The aching body has ceased to work,
The weary feet to roam,
Gently the Father’s loving voice
Whispered, Dear one, come home.
