Fred A. Gould, pioneer resident of Groton and Stratford vicinities died at his farm home two miles south of Stratford Thursday, November 4. Mr. Gould was born at Decorah, Ia., on August 24, 1869, the son of Betsey and James Gould.
The early years of his life were spent in Minnesota and he came to South Dakota with his parents when he was 11 years old. On October 23 [?], 1891, he was married to Rose Irene Albert and to this union was born one son, James Elmer. All but three years of his married life were spent at or near Groton and Stratford. Two brothers, Charles Elwin and Ray, preceded him in death. He is survived by his widow, a son, two brothers, two grandchildren and his mother, Mrs. Betsey Gould of Brentford.
