Bath, S. D., Nov. 21 — The funeral of D. R. Hughes, who died of cancer of the stomach last Saturday, was held Monday afternoon, Rev. W. H. Cory having charge of the services. There was a large attendance. Mr. Hughes was one of the earliest settlers of this township and one of its leading farmers. The bereaved family has the sympathy of the entire community.

David R. Hughes of Bath died Saturday forenoon of cancer of the stomach. He had been ailing for about two years, but had been confined to the house only a few weeks. The deceased was one of the first settlers in Bath township, having come to this county from Wisconsin in 1880. He was about 55 years of age, and leaves a wife and three children.
