MRS. EMMA KRAFT DEAD
Groton Herald: News came yesterday of the death of Mrs. Emma Kraft at Billings, Mont., Wednesday afternoon. She was a pioneer of Brown county and visited Groton friends and relatives, returning to her Montana home last spring. Soon her trouble developed, cancerous in its nature, and for the past three months all hope of recovery was abandoned. A son, Roltan was in France and when the nature of her illness became apparent efforts were made to secure his release. These efforts were successful and the invalid seemed to keep up her strength with shear force of will until she could see her son once more.
After his arrival, about two weeks ago, she became rapidly worse until death came as a release to her sufferings. He was able to remain with her but two or three days being required to report at Fort Leavenworth, but received his discharge Sunday and was on his way to her bedside when her death occurred.
A telegram received by O. H. Miller states that he will reach Groton Saturday night. Emma Elizabeth Mueller was born in Greenfield, Wis., December 27, 1858, was married March 6, 1880 to Jacob Kraft. Came to Groton, S. D. In 1882. She was the mother of five children, Arthur, Ed, Roltan, Orin and Irma. Her husband died in Groton May 19, 1908. Ed died in Groton April 27, 1908 and Irma died here May 16, 1901. Arthur, Roltan and Orin survive her. In 1909 the deceased went to Montana with her sons and has lived there since.
The funeral will be held in the Evangelical church, Groton, Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Mr. Kraft was woman who was beloved by all who knew her. In her home and among her friends she was always a favorite. Her sorrowing relatives have the sincere sympathy of all.
