CARL PAEPKE
On Sunday afternoon, March 21, occurred the death of Carl Paepke, a well known pioneer resident of this vicinity. Deceased had been in poor health during the past two years, and death came as a relief from his sufferings. Pleurisy was the cause of the final summons.
Mr. Paepke was born in Germany May 18, 1844. When he first came to America he settled in Dane County, Wisconsin, coming to this vicinity about 34 years ago.
Deceased is survived by five daughters and two sons; Mrs. Wm. Welbrauch, Mrs. Val VonWald, Mrs. Obe Burns, Mrs. Roy Flemmings, Miss Bertha, and William and Hubert Paepke, all of whom reside in this county. Eight grandchildren also mourn his demise. During the last nine months Mr. Paepke resided at the Val. VonWald home at which place death occurred.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday (tomorrow) afternoon at 1:00 from Wm. Paepke home, and the remains will be take to the James church, where Ref. Graef will preside in German, while Rev. Graeber of Aberdeen will speak in English. Mr. Paepke was a man of character and was ever true to his friends and neighbors, and in his dealing with his fellow men he was honest and bright.
