Groton SD News, Friday, 1 June 1900 

Chas. Roda, an old and respected citizen of this county who resides about four miles east of Groton, was found dead in bed Tuesday morning. Dr. Geib was called and pronounced the cause of death apoplexy. Mr. Roda was born in Mechlenburg, Prussia, Feb. 1, 1851, and came to America settling in New York in 1858; from thence he came to Dakota in 1884. Besides a brother here and relatives in N.Y. he leaves only an adopted daughter, his wife having died here about six years ago. The funeral services were held at the house by Rev. Sanderson, after which the remains were interred in Union cemetery.
