Funeral services for Mrs. C. A. Smith, who died at an Aberdeen hospital Monday morning after an extended illness, were held this afternoon. Mrs. Smith was one of the pioneers, having lived in this township for thirty0five years. She will be missed by the community as well as by her family. In case of sickness in the neighborhood she was always prompt to render efficient assistance in caring for the afflicted.
Ruth A. Borden was born in Wisconsin March 8, 1862, and was married to Charles A. Smith, September 9, 1877. They came to Dakota Territory in 1883 and located in Bath township. Besides her husband, nine children survive her: Mrs. Maude Helmka, Bath; Wallace E., Brampton, N.D.; Mrs. Blanche Boynton, Bath; Walter G., Glencoe, Minn; Mrs. Grace Myers, Groton; Mrs. Kate Hatcher, Kaiser, Wis.; Mrs. Effie Hatcher, Mary and Glen of Bath.
