PIONEER OF COUNTY DIES AT CITY HOME
Mrs. Amelia Voigt Follow Death of Husband Within Few Months - Death Occurred
Today Mrs. Amelia Voigt, widow of the late Ferdinand Voigt, passed away at the Voigt home, 515 Second avenue southeast, this morning at 7 o’clock following an illness that extended over a period of two years and resulted in her confinement to bed for the past nine years. She was 64 years of age.
Mr. and Mrs. Voigt and two daughters came to Brown county in 1882 from Dodge county, Wis., and settled on a homestead six miles southwest of Groton. The family resided there until twenty-three years ago when they moved to Aberdeen and made their home here continuously until the death of the well-known couple. Mr. Voigt died in June of 1921 at an advanced age.
Surviving relatives are two daughters, Mrs. Alice Pfeifer, Mrs. Edward Hoene and two sons, Arthur F. and Aaron R. of Aberdeen; five brothers, Albert Newman of Seattle; James of Big Falls, Minn.; John of Sheridan, Wyo., Charles of American Falls, Ida., and Henry of Coulee, N.D.
No definite funeral arrangements have been made but services will probably be held Thursday under the auspices of the church of the deceased, The Zion Lutheran, and interment made at Groton by the side of her late husband.
