DEATH OF MRS. FRED VOIGT
Well Known Groton Woman Expires Unexpectedly
Groton Herald: The entire community was profoundly shocked to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. Fred W. Voigt, which occurred without warning at her home in this city yesterday morning. She had not been in robust health for a long time, but her death came as a severe and unexpected blow, nevertheless. She was around the house in the morning, as usual, and walked out in the yard. Soon she went into the bedroom to rest as was her custom, and for a time talked with members of the family through the open door about the housework. A few minutes later one of her daughters went into the bedroom and found her quite dead. She had passed into the Great Beyond peacefully and without a sound or struggle.
Deceased was 58 years of age Feb. 22. Her maiden name was Alvina Maas, and she was born in Lebanon, Wis. With her husband she came to Brown County twenty-six years ago, and being a pioneer she enjoyed a wide acquaintance among the early settlers.
Besides her husband, she leaves eight children - four boys and four girls. Emil Voigt of Lebanon, S.D.; Herman, Otto, and Fred Voigt, and Mrs. John Hobus of Kenmare N. D.; Mrs. Barney Fischer and Misses Ella and Flora at home. Mrs. Voigt was a devoted wife, a loving mother and friend. She was an earnest Christian, and did all in her power to make life better for everyone, both in deed and word. Her loss will be keenly felt by a host of friends, who extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family in their loss. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Lutheran church.
