Mrs. Edward Ashley
A woman, highly known and valued in the community, passed away Tuesday morning at 11:30 a.m. when death called Mrs. Ashley, the wife of Rev. Dr. Edward Ashley, 506 Fourth avenue southeast. Mrs. Ashley had been suffering for some time from a diabetic ailment but was attacked with grippe last Friday. Her fight for life was sturdily maintained until pneumonia set in last night with the end coming this morning. Interment took place in Riverside cemetery and the burial was from St. Mark’s Episcopal church, Thursday.
On October 6, 1877, at Frome, Somersetshire, England, Elizabeth Ann Martin was married to Edward Ashley. This was the county of her birth, she being born on August 25, 1854. Besides her husband she leaves five children: Mrs. G. Coulter of Culbertson, Mont., and four sons: Edward A., Martin A., William C. and Robert L. Ashley.
