A telephone message from Frederick Saturday afternoon announced the death of George M. Drum as the result of a stroke of paralysis, which fell upon him Wednesday night. Mr. Drum was one of the oldest settlers of Brown county, having embarked in business in Frederick in the early 80’s. A number of years ago he went to West Superior, Wisconsin., where he remained a few years and then returned to Frederick, since which time he had been engaged in traveling for different firms.
During the present season he was on the road selling hardware for J. H. Jackson, but had been taking a summer vacation of late. He had apparently been in good health until the paralytic stroke on Wednesday, and it was hoped he would rally from that without serious difficulty, but the disease extended in its effects until his heart was reached. Mr. Drum was about 55 years of age and leaves a wife and a son and daughter, both grown. The funeral was held at Frederick Sunday, the Masonic order of which he was a member, having charge of the services.
