Peder Hafnor
Peder Hafnor, a prominent farmer of Gem township, died at the family home yesterday of old age. Death was sudden, following an illness of since last Sunday.
Funeral services will probably be held Monday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the home of his son, Gilbert Hafnor, and at 2:30 o’clock at the Lutheran church. Burial will be in the cemetery in Gem township.
Deceased was born in Norway, September 13, 1830, and when a young man came to this country. In 1888 he moved to Gem township and took up a homestead and had since lived there. He was one of the most successful of farmers and was much loved in his community. Mr. Hafnor is survived by his wife and six children: Andrew and Gilbert Hafnor of Gem township, Nelson of Los Angeles Cal.; Misses Anna and Olberg, living at home, and Mrs. Martha Ekrem of Selby. The children were present at the time of his death with the exception of Nels, who is expected to arrive in Aberdeen Sunday from Los Angeles. Deceased is also survived by a sister, Mrs. E. O. Hunstad of Gem township, who is one of the oldest settlers there and who is now 87 years of age. Deceased had always been in the best of health and had been feeling fine up to last Sunday.
