Melinda Lyon Hickenbotham Died at the home of her son, James E. Hickenbotham, on Christmas day at 8:34 a. m., Mrs. Melinda Hickenbotham, aged 88 years, 4 months, and 7 days. 

Funeral services will be held from the Congregational church on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Interment weill be made at Riverside cemetery. Melinda Lyon was born at New Haven, Oswego county, New York, on August 18, 1827, her parents being Reuben and Hannah Lyon. On January 24, 1947, nearly sixty-nine years ago, she was united in marriage to Samuel F. Hickenbotham, at New Hartford, Onida county, New York. Starting for the west that same year, they landed in Sheboygan, Wis., on September 12, 1847, taking up a preemption from the government. Upon this land they lived until the death of her husband in September, 1902. 

Twelve children were born to this union, nine of whom are still living. She also leaves thirty-four grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Nancy E. Johnson of Thurman, Ia., aged 87 years also survives her. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 2:30 o’clock at the congregational church, the procession leaving the Moore undertaking parlors at 2:15.
