Minnie Kule Hilbert
The death on November 29 of Mrs. Leonard Hilbert removes a kind and loving mother and wife from her home and community. Minnie Kule was born in Wartin, Germany, December 18, 1852. Her parents moved to this country in her infancy, settling in York state. Here she received her early education. Later the family moved to Dane county, Wisconsin. In 1873 she was married to Leonard Hilbert, and they made their home at Waumakee. January 31 would have been their thirty-seventh wedding anniversary.
The deceased was nearly 57 years old, and is survived by four children: John, Amelia, George and Mary, all at home; two brothers, August of Northville, William, and a sister, Mrs. Schnase of Bath. The funeral service was in charge of Rev. W. Kraushaar of the German Lutheran church in Aberdeen, his text being 2 Timothy 4:7-8. Interment as in the Bath cemetery beside the remains of a young son, a six months old daughter being buried in Waumakee. The chief delight and comfort of Mrs. Hilbert’s life was her home and family. She spent and was spent for her own, and it is to be regretted that unfounded statements concerning her life and death were circulated in the papers. The body was not “taken to Wilson’s undertaking parlors in Aberdeen,” but, as as very fitting, was cared for in her own home.
