Dr. Pine was called to Andover on Saturday, December 29th, to amputate the hands and feet of Jno. P. Johnson, a Norwegian, who froze his extremities while under the influence of liquor, on his way from Groton to his claim, four miles north of Andover. Drs. Johnson and Compton assisted in the operation. The patient seemed to be doing well, but the shock to his nervous system proved too great and he has since died, which is a happy thing for him as he would ever have been perfectly helpless.
He leaves six small children entirely unprotected, his wife having died about a year since.
