Aberdeen Daily News Friday, Feb 09, 1900
Mrs. D. D. Jones died last night at 11:30 o’clock at her home in Aberdeen after an illness of several weeks. The funeral services were held at the residence this afternoon at 3 o’clock Rev. T. R. Jones and Rev. C. C. Todd, officiating. Maggie Jones was born at Lake Emily, Wis., August 6, 1866, and was at the date of her death 33 years and 6 months of age.
She was married to Daniel D. Jones in Wisconsin in March 1884, and soon afterward came with her husband to Brown county. They made their home at Plana until about a year ago, when the family removed to Aberdeen as a more convenient place of residence after Mr. Jones entered upon his duties as clerk of courts. Besides her husband she leaves one daughter, Mable, 13 years old. Her parents, David E. and Catherine Jones of Randolph, Wis., arrived a few days ago and were with her until her death. A brother, Edwin E. Jones, is at Newport, N. J., where he is studying for the ministry, and a sister, Mrs. M. J. Daniels, lives at Lake Emily, Wis. The death of Mrs. Jones will cast a shadow of gloom over the entire community of Plana and the surrounding country, where she was so well known and so much beloved for the many splendid qualities she possessed. During her brief residence in Aberdeen she had made warm and admiring friends who will mourn her death with deep sorrow, and the bereaved husband and daughter have the sympathy of all. The remains will be taken to Randolph, Wis., for burial, the services there being held on Monday.
