The remains of Mrs. Casper Kronschnabel of Frederick, wife of the chairman of the board of county commissioners, were met here this morning by a number of relatives and friends and were taken on to Frederick, her home many years past, and given burial with appropriate services this forenoon. She had always been a devout member of the Catholic church, and her pastor, Rev. Fr. Reiland of this city, accompanied the funeral party from here and conducted the obsequies. Other citizens who were present were Sheriff Ritter, County Auditor Miller, Register of Deeds Wade, Clerk of Court Fletcher, Treasurer Fylpaa and County Commissioner Alley, all official associates of Mr. Kroschnabel. The deceased had long been in failing health and her death was not a great surprise to those familiar with her condition.
She died on Thursday at Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, whither she went a week or so ago to sustain the ordeal of a delicate operation. This seemed to have been successfully passed, and for two days her condition gave reason for encouragement. Vital organs were too badly diseased, however, to admit of recovery, and when she began to sink, death could not long be held back.
She was born in Baden, Germany, and came to the new world when a child. Over twenty years of her life, or after her marriage to Mr. Kronschnabel, was passed in Carver county, Minn., where her husband was engaged in the milling business. Sixteen years ago the family removed to Brown county and have since been engaged in farming near the village of Frederick. Ten children, all grown and the youngest of whom is 18 years of age, are left. Had Mrs. Kronschnabel lived until the 25th of this month she would have rounded out exactly three score years.
