Sena Hanson Olson
Mrs. Andrew Olson died at 8 o’clock this morning at the age of 40 at her home, 216 Third street south. Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but it is expected that the funeral will take place at 10 o’clock Monday morning, a short service being held at the home after which the remains will be taken to the Gem township Norwegian Lutheran church and burial made at the cemetery in that township. The Rev. O. Glesne, pastor of the Bethlehem Norwegian church who is out of the city at the present time, has been sent for to conduct the services.
Sena Hanson was born in Madison, Wis., June 16, 1871. In 1882 she came to Gem township Brown county, South Dakota with her parents and lived there until her marriage in 1892 to Andrew Olson, a railroad man of this city. Since that time she has made her home in Aberdeen where during the long period of years of her residence, eight of which she spent as a nurse, she had become well known and had made many friends. She was closely connected with the Bethlehem church of this city and was an active worker in the several societies of the church. Her death this morning followed a serious attack of nervous prostration with which she had bee afflicted for a number of weeks past.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother and three sisters, who are the Rev. H. C. Jortholm of Ellsworth, Ia., Miss Dagmar Hanson of Gem township and Mrs. R. F. Thomas of Portland Ore. With the exception of the latter all are expected to arrive to attend the funeral. Mrs. Olson left no children, and during her residence here had shared her home with a niece, Miss Clara Hanson of Gem township.
