Aberdeen Evening News Tuesday, Jul 20, 1926 

John Madison Shore, a well know farmer living seven miles northwest of Columbia, died Sunday morning at 1:15 a.m., at the family home after an illness of several months. Mr. Shore was 44 years of age at the time of his death. He was born in Illinois where he lived until seven years ago when the family came to South Dakota, locating near Columbia. 

He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Fay, 24 and Wilma, 22; two sons, Russell, 19 and Paul, 10; his mother, Mrs. Mary J. Shore who was at the bedside of her son; one brother, Frank of Stuttgart, Ark., and a sister, Emma Shore, of Raymond, Illinois. Owing to the nature of the disease, private funeral services will be held from the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. George E. Brown of Houghton officiating. Interment will be in the Columbia cemetery.
