Groton Independent March 3, 1910

Ann Thompson Wade

Death came to Mrs. John Wade at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bruce Paine, Sioux Falls on Saturday, Feb 26, with whom deceased had made her home for some time. The body was brought to Groton for interment in Union Cemetery, beside that of her husband, who died on March 6, 1901.

Miss Ann Thompson was born in 1832 in Clark, Durham County, Canada. She was united in marriage with John Wade in Clark in June 1858. Came to South Dakota in July, 1882.

She leaves three daughters—Mrs. Honey of Putney, Mrs. George Hall of Lethbridge and Mrs. Bruce Paine of Sioux Falls. Aside from the usual infirmities of age she had been in fair health, and had walked a considerable distance the day preceding her death, the end coming somewhat suddenly after she had retired for the night. Funeral services were conducted by M. E. church with sermon by the pastor, Rev. E. S. Brown, and supplementary remarks by Rev. J. S. Butt, who had known the family for many years. Full of years, after a life of usefulness, Mrs. Wade has gone to the reward of the faithful.
