Aberdeen Daily News Wednesday, Jul 30, 1890
Lee Gay, whose lingering illness we have from time to time mentioned, died at his residence in this city at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning, as was announced by the tolling of the Presbyterian church bell. His disease was scrofula, terminating in consumption. The deceased was a good, conscientious citizen and his death is regretted by all. He was strictly honest and always found plenty of business of his own to attend to.
Lee Gay was born in China and came to this country about twenty years ago, spending twelve years in San Francisco. He came to Oakes from Aberdeen about three years ago, and was 34 years of age last December. A wife and two small children survive him.
The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church Wednesday forenoon and there was quite a large attendance to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased.—Oakes Republican
