Aberdeen Weekly News Thursday, May 27, 1897 

Hiram Humphrey, postal clerk upon the great Northern road, died Saturday morning of acute tuberculosis, aged 37 years. The funeral services were held from the residence on Washington street, between First and Second, at 2 o’clock on Monday afternoon. Rev. Mr. Martz was in charge. The interment took place at Riverside cemetery. 

Mr. Humphrey had lived in Aberdeen about five years and was a hard working, well deserving man, respected and esteemed by those who had his acquaintance. A wife and little son survive him.
