Died — In Ordway, Oct 11, 1890, of malignant erysipelas, Jessie Viola Knapp, aged 21 years, 5 months and 5 days. She was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Garland of this city. Born in Hesper township, Winneshiek county Iowa, on June 6, 1869. Her parents moved to Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa, in the fall of 1870, where they resided until 1882, when the family came to Ordway, S. D., where they have since resided.
She was married Sep. 4, 1889, to Mr. B. S. Knapp, formerly of Clintonville, Wis. Jessie was sick only a few days, but was ready to go when death called. During the revival of last winter she professed religion and intended to join the M. E. church in full membership. The Sabbath previous to her death, her six months of probation were ended when she was taken into full membership with the church above. Jessie was quiet and unassuming, always ready to do her duty when known and willing to aid as far as she was able. She will be sadly missed in the Sunday school and other gatherings in which she always took an active part. Her memory will remain dear to all her friends and associates. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. S. G. Updike, of Aberdeen.
