Aberdeen Weekly News Thursday, Dec 12, 1895

Kate Sollie, the 3 year old daughter of Russian parents, residing on First avenue west, was so badly burned while playing about a cook stove on Saturday evening that she died afgter much suffering about 9 o’clock. No one but a still younger child was in the house at the time of the frightful accident, but the parents returned in season to save the house though not the life of their little one who had nearly all the clothing burned from her body and was a horrible sight to look upon.

The funeral services were held Monday forenoon at the Catholic church. It is difficult to learn the details of the accident, as the parents do not clearly speak or understand English; but it is supposed the little girl was playing with some old papers and the blaze in the stove and so ignited her clothing.
