[Pearl Eugenia Wells, Feb 1887-1 Dec 1900, buried Riverside Memorial Park — Findagrave.com]
Miss Pearl Eugenia Wells, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. N. Wells, died Monday morning at 6:05 at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Couch, with whom she had made her home more or less. She was taken with typhoid fever several weeks ago, but was apparently convalescing nicely when a bowel trouble set in a few days ago and ended fatally.
The deceased was 13 years, 9 months and 21 days old, and was a very bright and lovable child, being a great favorite with all who knew her. She was a member of the Methodist Sunday school and was possessed of a vein of deep religious feeling. When told several hours before her death that she could live but a short time she received the news with Christian resignation and made requests regarding the funeral and sent messages to absent friends, and before peacefully sinking to the sleep which knows no earthly awakening, she asked that the hymn, "We’ll Never Say Goodbye in Heaven," should be sung at her funeral service.
The funeral was held from the M. E. church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
