Mrs. Helene Hesla’s Funeral Rites Held

 Vermillion, S. D., Nov. 17—Funeral services for Mrs. Helene Hesla, aged resident of Vermillion who died Tuesday, were held Friday at the Alvin Leikvold residence near Vermillion and at the Pleasant Valley Lutheran church, with Rev. A. M. Turmo in charge. 

Mrs. Hesla, who had lived most of her 88 years in Vermillion, died at the Sammelson nursing home here. 

Helene Ellefson Hesla was born May 25, 1857, in Alamakee county, Ia. She was married to E. S. Hesla there on March 23, 1877. She had been a member of the Pleasant Valley Lutheran church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband and by one son, Oliver. 

She is survived by five sons, Herman of Webster, S.D., Ova, Peter and Inman of Wakonda, and Elmer of Aberdeen, Wash.; and three daughters, Mrs. Inga Cleveland of Maddock, N.D., and Mrs. Helen Leikvold and Mabel Hesla of Wakonda. 

There are 24 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
