Charles Mayer, Wakonda, Rites Set Friday
WAKONDA – Funeral services for Charles W. Mayer , 70, will be Friday, July 18, at 10 a.m. in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Tyler Erickson officiating.
Burial will be in the Union Cemetery of Wakonda. Friends may call today (Thursday) at the Hansen Funeral Home in Wakonda.
Mr. Mayer was born November 11, 1899, at Wakonda and died Wednesday morning in the Yankton hospital.
He was a farmer for many years near Wakonda until he became ill.
On June 10, 1923 (sic—1924), he was married to Olevia Thrane and she preceded him in death.
Survivors are one son, Luverne, Volin; and one daughter, Mrs. Lois Lee; five grandchildren; two brothers, Frank, Wakonda and Clarence, Buffalo, N.Y.; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Taylor, Charles City, Ia.
