Biographies - ![]() History Townships and Towns ![]() Newspaper Articles Watertown News, October 2, 1879: Two ladies came into town one day last week from the Jim river, Mrs. Alice Farmer and her mother. They each had a yoke of oxen and loaded wagon. They had come along all the way from the Jim river, sixty-five miles, with products of the farm, to exchange for supplies. When it is remembered that about thirty miles of this route is entirely uninhabited and that they had to camp out two nights on their way here, something like a proper conception can be formed of the nerve and pluck of these two women.
