INDIVIDUAL BURIAL SITES IN DAVISON CO SD
BADGER TOWNSHIP, DAVISON COUNTY, SD
Sec. 5, SE 1/4, 3 miles west and 3 miles north of Loomis,
on the old J. Sykes Wilson farm are two unknown burials.
The farm was sold to Fritz Koepke in 1915.
NE 1/4 SE 1/4, Sec.33, Twp.104, R61. A stone for Lydia S. GOOD,
wife of John E. Good, age 39, 1857-1896. This stone was found
along the ffance in the pasture and was removed to the farm yead
of the present owner--William Schroeder. William Fraser was the
earlier owner of the farm, friends of the Good Family. William
Fraser's wife Abigail was also buried beside Lydia and later
transferred to Plankinson,SD with her husband.
BAKER TOWNSHIP, DAVISON COUNTY, SD
SE 1/4 Sec.36, on Herbst Farm, is burial of Baby Girl of Paul &
Amelia Herbst, one mile east of the Church Of God Cemetery where
the parents are buried.
BLENDON TOWNSHIP, DAVISON COUNTY, SD
NE 1/4 Sec.9 on the old S.I. Knudson farm, a girl is buried beside
the road and was marked by a rock. When the road went in it covered
over the grave. Mrs. Walter Knudson cared for the grave for many years.
Sec. 9, NW 1/4, an unknown man was buried in draw south west of
the house. This farm once belonged to Arthur Reape, but now belongs
to Gene Fristad. Another source reported 2 graves at this site.

MITCHELL TOWNSHIP, DAVISON COUNTY, SD
Graceland Cemetery in lot 12, first Addition. Two babies of Ferdinand
Rudloff and Jessie Millard, died in 1901 and in 1903, newborns.
In Mitchell on 700 west 2nd street, are 3 children buried outside
the windows in the garden on the north side of the ouse in the early
years. The children died of flu. Several other references were
received of burials within the city of Mitchell.
PERRY TOWNSHIP, DAVISON COUNTY, SD
SE 1/4 Sec.22 near the old Episcopal Church site, north and east
of the cross memorial are grave signs of several burials. This was
at one time known as "Morriston" the farm of Rev. John Morris,
first Episcopal minister in the area. His daughter Mrs. R.P.Cady
was buried here and possibly removed later into Graceland Cemetery.
TOBIN TOWNSHIP, DAVISON COUNTY, SD
NW 1/4 Sec.5 and unknown burial on the old Fred Moses farm.
LaVerne Klumb owned the farm in 1980.
NE 1/2, Sec.23, by the Shoemaker Dam, 6 miles west of Ethan is
buried a member of the DOERING family. This was at one time
owned by Schoenfelders. Note: George Doering drowned in 12 mile
lake 1886.
INDIAN BURIAL SITES, DAVISON COUNTY, SD
No further investigation was made into the numerous Indian
burial sites at this time but records are available with the
Historical Resource Center in Vermillion, SD.
THERE ARE VERY LIKELY MANY MORE BURIAL SITES OTHER THAN THESE
ON OLD FARMSTEADS WITHIN THE COUNTY. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION OF
ANY UNNOWN BURIALS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED BY THE DAVISON COUNTY
