NICOLAISEN FAMILY CEMETERY, DAVISON CO SD

This little family cemetery is located 6 miles south and one half
mile east of Mt. Vernon. A wooden fence encloses the area of about
24 square feet beside a shelter belt. It consists of 2 rows of graves,
with the parents on the west side and the children on the east.
Peter Paul Nicolaisen, (originally spelled Nicolaysen) came with his
family from Denmark and settled first in Davenport, Iowa, then later
moved to Mt. Vernon. He homesteaded this land in February 1882. His
wife Kathryn Harkert came from Germany.
Stones were read in April of 1978 by the Davison County Genealogical
Society.
An asterisk in front of a death date indicates that there is no stone.
