Roggow, Ione Grace 1904-1990
Ione Grace Roggow, 86, died July 19, 1990, in a nursing home in Burke, S.D. She was a former Plymouth County resident.
Funeral was at a11 a.m. Monday, July 23, at Assembly of God Church, Gregory, S.D. with Rev. Randy Hedlun officiating. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery, Burke.
Ione Grace King was born March 6, 1904, near Emporia, Kan., to Warren and Birdean Poyzer King.
In 1905 the family moved to a farm near Adaville IA where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Merrill High School in May, 1921. She attended Morningside College in Sioux City in 1924, and taught school in the Adaville community.
Her marriage to Willie G. Roggow took place at Westfield, June 18, 1925, and they were the parents of seven children. They moved to a farm a mile east of Lucas, S.D., where they lived with the family was growing up.
Her husband died in Sept. 1963, and she moved to Burke that year. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Gregory and belonged to the Pleasant Hours Extension Club.
Surviving are her seven children: Vilas and wife, Amy of Burke; Calvin and wife, Mary, of North Platte, Neb.; Darrell and wife Naomi, of Burke; Stanley and wife, Shirley of Dalhart, Tex.; Avis (Mrs. Dwaine Swift) of Burke; and Darlis (Mrs. Hugh Townsend) of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elva Hawkins and Ferne Tindall, both of LeMars IA and Freda Dreeszen of Akron; a brother, Stanley King of LeMars.
