Fairfax, South Dakota - RR Depot

~Photograph submitted by Researcher, Joe Thurstenson

The main business district of Fairfax, SD is off the right edge of this photo. Most of these buildings were gone in what we knew as the railroad bottom by mid-20th century. The train depot remained as did the Catholic church in the distance. The Hoffman elevator burned early in the century – it processed grains for flour and other meals. I would like to have identification of other buildings if possible.

The upper right in the distance are the business buildings along Randall Street that junctions with main street off the edge of this photo. This photo was obviously taken from the top of the grain elevators across the railroad tracks at the depot. ~ Email Joe Thurstenson
