EARLY SETTLER OF HAND COUNTY, S.D., DIES AT AGE OF 93.
Miller, S.D.—Special: Death removed one of Hand County’s oldest settlers when Alex Ross, 93, succumbed at a Huron hospital. He was born in Nova Scotia in 1846. In 1880 the family moved to Sioux City and resided two years. They then came to South Dakota, settling on a farm in Rose Hill township, 15 miles southeast of Vayland.
Mr. Ross had served on town and school boards and as county commissioner. In 1925, Mr. and Mrs. Ross observed their golden wedding anniversary. Mrs. Ross died in 1929. Surviving are 3 sons, 3 daughters, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
