Mrs. Maria Lyons, a Noble Mother Passes to Her Reward. 

Mrs. Mary Lyons, aged 84 years, died at 8:30 Wednesday morning, Nov. 13, 1912, at the home of her son, Garrett Lyons, of Clarno. Deceased had been failing for some time and had been confined to her bed for the past two months. 

Maria Crinion was born in Syracuse, N.Y. She was married to Patrick Lyons at the age of 16. A few years later they removed to Fond Du Lac county, Wisconsin, where they resided until 1883 when they came to McCook county, S.D., and settled on a farm in Feb. 1896. Mr. Lyons died, and three years later, in 1899, Mrs. Lyons came to Lake county where she has since resided. 

She was the mother of twelve children, eight sons and four daughters. Those living are James, Anace, Garrett and William of Clarno; Mrs. F. Conley and Mrs. M. Nightingale of Madison; Henry who resides in Ohio, John in Washington, Dennis in Kansas, and Andrew in Canada. Two daughters have preceded her in death. They were Catherine, who died at the age of 3 years, and Mary who died in 1890 at the age of 18. 

Deceased was a communicant of the Catholic church of which she was a faithful member. Her first thoughts were for the comfort of her children and loved ones, and before her health failed she spent much of her time ministering unto them. Besides sons and daughters, she leaves a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held Friday morning in the Catholic church at Montrose, and the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery beside those of her husband.
