Mr. Geo. H. Smith:

As I have enlisted in tha navy I am writing you so that you may appoint a successor as local Four Minute Men committeeman for Iona and vicinity.

Would you please notify the proper person or committee that I will be unable to be a candidate for clerk of courts on the Democratic ticket at the coming election, as my country needs me more than Lyman County does. Thanking you in advance for the favor I ask, I am,

Yours in the service,
E. L. Millar
