Updated Saturday, March 06, 2010 From Francis Rohrer Somewhere in France Sept. 22, 1918 Dear Esther, I will try to scribble you a few lines today while I have time. I have been moving most of the time lately I am well and I hope this finds you all the same. I got your letter yesterday and was glad to hear from you, and also got one from May. France is some place; where I have been most of the time. It is just about like the old homestead near Houston, only lots of weeds. We are camped in the woods today and taking life easy. You say the garden is fine. I’d like to be home and get a good old home feed, and go to some of those dances. Maybe I will sometime. We went over the top and I’d like you to see the Germans we got. This is some German paper that I found when they left everything. I remember Orville Lloyd. He and I went to a few dances together. Tell him hello for me. Well, there is not much to write about and it is getting suppertime. Hope to hear from you real often. Your
Brother,
