  Schooler, Edward K.

 Marine Corp. Edward K. Schooler of Oacoma, member of an amphibian tractor unit of the Third Marine Division, somewhere in the Pacific was recently presented the Purple Heart for wounds received on Guam.
   Schooler crawled beneath his tractor on the beach to sleep the first night. A Japanese mortar shell hit about 10 feet from the vehicle. Fragments shelled into Schooler's back.
    Schooler, who enlisted December 7, 1942, has been overseas a year. He also participated in  the Kwajalein campaign. He is a crew chief of a tractor and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Schooler of Oacoma.
