Frank L. Farrar Frank L. Farrar came to Langford in 1893 from Hutchinson, Minnesota, with a bunch of harness horses to race in a celebration held there. That fall they got stuck in a snow storm and they had to winter the horses in Langford. He went to work in the flour mill there until 1896, and went back to Hutchinson and married his wife, Nellie Bonnewell. Two sons were born to them in Langford, Earl in 1897, now lives in San Luis Obispo, California and Virgil in 1900. Frank L. Farrar moved to Newark in 1900 and homesteaded there. Virgil Farrar married Venita Taylor in 1922 and had five children, one who is Frank L. Farrar (son of Virgil Farrar) and who became Governor of South Dakota. He lived in Britton. Frank L. Farrar, Sr. died in 1946.
