The keeping of marriage records began in Shannon County in 1905. Some records prior to 1905 may be at the Shannon County Registrar's Office. See Court Houses for the address. For information about obtaining marriage records since 1905 see the South Dakota Department of Health and Vital Records. Also look for church records instead of or in addition to civil records from the court house. You can find some church information under Churches. Some people from Shannon County may have been married in Rushville, NE or Gordon, NE, so be sure to check that out if you cannot locate information for them in Shannon County.
