OBITUARY
(News November 26, 1897)
A. W. Cook died at his home last Wednesday at 6 o’clock p. m. He has been gradually failing for some time, but told his wife that he would live until his birthday which he did, dying on that day, being thirty-eight years old. His lower limbs have been paralyzed for several years making him helpless invalid, but he has borne up under it bravely and managed to attend to his duties as assessor satisfactorily. Five years ago he was elected county assessor on the republican ticket, three years ago and one year ago he was re-elected without any opposition. He had one more year to serve on his third term.
He leaves surviving him his wife and two children, a little girl and boy. Mrs. Cook has the sympathy of the entire community in her sad bereavement. The funeral was held Wednesday forenoon.
