Some of these
photos are from the Halverson Family collection, so they lean toward the north part
of Roberts County.
Simon
A. Halverson and his brothers came
from Snørteland, Karmøy, Norway. Simon homesteaded in
Norway Township,
Roberts County, in 1892. His brothers used the
Americanized version of the Norwegian farm name,
Snortland. They settled
near Sharon, North Dakota. The date of this photo is
unknown, but probably before 1892. Simon is seated
front/center.

John Craine and his wife Louisa.
They came to Roberts County in 1880 and homesteaded in
Becker Township.
Also shown is a photo of the tombstone for Louisa, and a
son, A. Leslie Craine. E. John Craine is buried in Valley
View Cemetery,
next to his wife and son. Valley View is located in
