The Zion Missouri Lutheran Church was established in 1898 and the first building was erected in 1900, it was 2 miles south of the cemetery.  There are
numerous graves of small children as well as many other early pioneers who are interred in this cemetery.  The building was enlarged and renovated in
1918, and served the congregation for 64 years.  The present church in the town of Hurley was moved from south and west of Freeman.  The Hurley
congregation and the one in Centerville are served by the same pastor.
