ALCESTER, S.D. — Maude Cooper, 101, of Alcester, died Saturday at Morningside Manor in Alcester. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester, with burial at Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today, with the family present 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Maude Cooper Dies in Alcester at 101
ALCESTER — Maude Cooper, 101, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1991, in Morningside Manor. Maude Lawton was born Sept. 27, 1890, in Hudson. She moved with her family to Hawarden, Iowa, where they homesteaded. She attended Patrick Country School near there and she graduated in 1910.
She married Irwin Cooper on Dec. 27, 1910. They lived in Sioux City, Iowa, Huron, Winona, Minn., and LaCrosse, Wis., and returned to the Hawarden area. They moved to Long Beach, Calif. in 1936. Her husband died in 1947. She returned to Alcester in 1975, and later entered Morningside Manor.
She was a member of Ireton and Long Beach Eastern Star, Sioux County Farm Bureau, and the Presbyterian Church in Long Beach.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Mylo (Alice) Ericson of Alcester; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Wass Funeral Home, Alcester, with burial in Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today in Wass Funeral Home, Alcester, with family present from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
